Andrea Thiele was born in Munich in 1976. She studied mass communication at the University of Miami, and later enrolled at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen München (HFF) in Munich, where she majored in documentary filmmaking and TV journalism in 2010. Her graduation film "Private Eyes" screened at the Hofer Filmtage and was nominated for the 2011 First Steps Award. In 2012, she completed her first feature-length documentary "You Drive Me Crazy" ("And Who Taught You To Drive?"), in which she portrays three young learners who attend driving school in different countries.
