Born in Bavaria in 1977, his parents are German-British artists. He lived in Australia from 1986-89, later graduating in drama and film from Reading University in England. In 2001 he took up studies at the College of Film and Television in Potsdam- Babelsberg, and in 2005 he received the German Short Film Award in Gold for his work, "Female/Male".
