Kirsi Marie Liimatainen was born in Finland in 1968 and has a Masters Degree in Theater and Drama from the University of Tampere. From 1991 to 1999 she worked as an actress in films, television and theater in Finland. From 1999-2006 she studied Directing at the "Konrad Wolf" Academy of Film and Television. In 2003/2004 she participated in the "Résidence du Festival Cannes". Her films include: "Modlicha" ( 2001), "The Time of the Spring" ("Fruehlingshymne", 2002), "Sonja" (2006) and "Festung" (2011).
