Born in East-Berlin in 1966. A tool maker, graphic designer and model, in 1990 he took up studies in set design at Weißensee Art College and at the "Konrad Wolf" College of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. A DAAD fellow in the USA and in Thailand, he also trained at the Actors Studio in New York. Graduating in directing from the "Konrad Wolf" College in 2001, he subsequently lectured in Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.
