Biography

Horst J. Sczerba was born in Krefeld. He studied Medicine and worked as a doctor for many years before he turned to radio, film and television. In 1991, he wrote his first screenplay for the "Tatort"-episode "Blutwurstwalzer", directed by Wolfgang Becker. A year later, he and Becker edited the screenplay into the award-winning television film "Kinderspiele" (1992), followed by his highly-acclaimed directorial debut "Die Schamlosen" (1994), with Juergen Vogel and Meret Becker in the leading roles. His other films include: "Eine unmoegliche Hochzeit" (1996), "Die Unschuld der Kraehen" (1997) - winner of the German Television Award, the road movie "Halt mich fest" (TV, 1999) and "Heart (Herz", 2001).
