Maruschka Detmers, born December 16, 1962, in Schoonebeek in the Netherlands, went to Paris as an au pair girl at the age of 17. There, she attended actor"s training and was discovered by Jean-Luc Godard. Detmers played a leading role in Godard"s drama "Prénom Carmen" ("First Name: Carmen"). During the following years, she worked together with renowned directors such as Jacques Doillon and Marco Bellocchio.

In 1992, she starred in the US-French production "The Mambo Kings" alongside Antonio Banderas. But Detmers did not make her breakthrough in the US. After a leading role in the Dolph Lundgren thriller "The Shooter" (1995), Detmers returned to the French cinema. Occasionally, she has also been seen in leading roles in German movie productions, for instance in Sönke Wortmann"s "St. Pauli Nacht" (1999) or in Leander Haußmann"s "Robert Zimmermann wundert sich über die Liebe" ("Robert Zimmermann Is Tangled Up In Love", 2008).
