Nadya Derado was born in 1967 and studied at the German Film & Television Academy in Berlin. She has authored mayn feature screenplays for other filmmakers and directed a number of shorts, including: "Polen im Frühjahr" (1993), "Jedan mimo drugoga" (1993), "Die Engel von Sarajevo" (1994), "Die Bohnen sind gefallen" (1995), "Gypsies Got to Berlin" (1997) and "Die andere Frau" (1997). "Yugotrip" (2003) marks her directorial debut.
