Charles Kissing was born in Guetersloh in 1947. He studied Art at the Academy for Fine Arts in Hamburg. "Katharina & Witt, Fiction & Reality" is his first full-length feature. His first short, "Grabowski, House of Life" ("Grabowski, Haus des Lebens") received the Grand Prize in Oberhausen in 1991.
