Biography

Thomas Crecelius was born in 1942 in Frankfurt. He started shooting documentaries in 1986. Before that he worked as a journalist for several German newspapers and wrote several novels published by Rowohlt-Verlag. He made various documentaries for the broadcasters WDR and NDR, among them "Harte Zeiten fuer wilde Herzen" (1992), which won the Robert-Geissendoerfer-Prize in 1992. As a dubbing director for cinema, he has worked for directors like Spike Lee, Aki Kaurismaeki and Gus van Sant. His other films include: "Metroplex" (1986), "Herberge am Ku"damm" (1988), "Die Gewalt und ihr Preis" (1993), "Nachts in der Notaufnahme" (1999), and "Andiamo!" (2004), among others.
