Born in Munich on 15.10.1969, she studied German language and literature, philosophy, ethnology and journalism at Hamburg University. From 1991-99 she studied visual communications at Hamburg College of Fine Arts, majoring in film. She attended post-graduate master classes at the same college from 1999-2000 and was a DAAD grantee in Bucharest from 2000-01. She lectures at the "Konrad Wolf" College of Film and Television (HFF) in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
