Johannes Weiland studied Animation at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg where he now also instructs Animation classes. During his studies, he directed the animated short "Hessi James" (2000), which was nominated for a Student Academy Award. His other short films are: "Annie & Boo" (2003), "Olis Chance" (2006), "Datenuebertragung" (2008) and "Der Kleine und das Biest" (2009).
