The documentary follows grassroots political engagement in Germany through the example of a local SPD (Social Democratic Party) chapter, showing how citizens actively participate in the democratic process in accordance with Article 21 of the German Constitution. The focus is on members who volunteer in local politics - putting up posters, staffing information booths, or attending meetings after work. The film documents the challenges they face: rigid structures, formalized procedures, and public resistance. Drawing on the director's own experiences within a local party branch, the film explores the tensions between idealism and reality, participation and frustration, and reveals how political involvement works - and how it can endure despite obstacles.
