This documentary follows Wolfgang "Gangerl" Clemens, now in his 80s, who has spent decades living as an outsider, sailing the world's oceans aboard his yacht. Over the course of three months, filmmaker Julian Wittmann captures Gangerl’s daily life at sea, which is marked by independence, hands-on problem-solving, and the mental and physical demands of living in close quarters. The film offers an unembellished look at a life lived beyond conventional norms, while also reflecting on the filmmaking process itself, offering insight into the relationship between the crew and their subject.
