Antej Farac, born in then-Yugoslavia in 1972, began studying graphic design and film in Sarajevo, before enrolling at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Munich in 1994. Following his graduation film, he worked as director for stage, film and radio. He also directed and edited trailers, music videos and advertisements, and worked as an author and advisor on productions. Since 2006, he has been living in Biel, Switzerland.

His unusual drama "Annelie", a "fictitious documentary" featuring professional actors as well as amateurs, was a sleeper hit at the 2012 Hofer Filmtage and was released theatrically in December 2013.
