Johannes Kiefer was born and raised in Munich. After a university degree in Literature and History, he began his career as a researcher for the director Wolfgang Petersen. Additionally, he worked as a first assistant director and assistant editor. "Gregor’s Greatest Invention" ("Gregors groesste Erfindung") is his directorial debut and was among the five nominees this year for the Oscar in the category Best Short Film - Live Action. He is currently developing his first feature length comedy script.
