Franz K.
The film tells the story of Austro-Hungarian writer Franz Kafka, who, in early 20th-century Prague, is caught between family expectations, professional duties, and his literary ambitions. As a young insurance lawyer, Kafka struggles to navigate a conservative society on the brink of upheaval, while his fragile health and inner conflicts blur the lines between reality and imagination. These experiences lay the groundwork for the themes that define his work: fear, isolation, and the loss of control. Interwoven with the historical narrative, documentary-style segments explore the present day, revealing how Kafka’s name has become a cultural brand — a sharp and ironic reflection of the bureaucracy and alienation he critiqued in life.
