Miss Holocaust Survivor
Documentary about the most unusual beauty pageant in the world: In Haifa, Israel, fourteen women between the ages of 75 and 95 walk down a runway and share their life stories with the audience. Wearing their finest clothes, jewelry and makeup, they have one thing in common: they are part of the last generation of Holocaust survivors and have endured unspeakable suffering. The motivations for participating in this controversial contest, organized by the Yad-Ezer-Lahaver Foundation, an organization for Holocaust survivors in need, and the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, vary. For some, it's a way to cope with trauma, while for others it's a unique way to pass on the memory of wartime atrocities, especially to the younger generation. In this competition, inner values are more important than appearances. Filmmaker Radek Wegrzyn accompanies the protagonists on stage and in the home for Holocaust survivors.
