The Family Approach

The documentary follows the everyday life of a residential group for children over the course of a year, set in a picturesque house by a lake. Three caregivers work in shifts to support five boys between the ages of seven and fourteen who have been removed from their families of origin. Alongside daily tasks such as cooking, laundry, and transportation, the focus is on emotional support, conversations, and shared routines. The caregivers aim to provide the children with a sense of security and help prepare them for a possible return to their families. The film highlights the challenges and emotional strain faced by the professionals, shedding light on their often unseen work within a complex child welfare system.
