An Impossible Project
Dr. Florian Kaps is the founder of Supersense, a company specializing in endangered analog products such as vinyl records and paper goods. In his documentary, Jens Meurer accompanies him as he tries to save the world's last Polaroid factory in Enschede, Netherlands. To no avail, as it turns out that the Polaroid formula is already lost forever. Shortly after, Kaps tries to reinvent the format for the 21st century. His path leads him to a wide variety of representatives of an analog craft, from calligraphers to bookbinders - and finally to Silicon Valley, the epicenter of the digital present. The film thus becomes more and more a reflection on the rediscovery of the analog in a digital world. It was shot (of course) on 35mm stock.
