The Traitor
Drama based on true events: In the 1960s and 1970s Tommaso Buscetta became a high-ranking member of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra. Finally he moves to Brazil, where he establishes a drug-trafficking network. In 1983 he is arrested and extradited to Italy. As the first major mafia boss, he breaks the oath of silence of the Sicilian mafia and cooperates with the authorities. Buscetta becomes the most important key witness in the Maxi trials of the 1980s and 1990s. His testimonies enable hundreds of members of the Cosa Nostra to be convicted in Italy and the USA.
