Benny Opoku-Arthur was born on 20 December 1997 in Berlin to Ghanaian immigrants. He attended the Staatliche Europa-Schule, where he took part in school theatre productions from the third grade onwards. He made his first professional stage appearance in 2013 in "Der Ring: Next Generation" in the Junge Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.  

After graduating from high school in 2016, Opoku-Arthur concentrated entirely on acting. In spring 2018 he took on a small part as a dealer in Burhan Qurbani's adaptation of Alfred Döblin's "Berlin Alexanderplatz" (2020). Before this film was released, he played a leading role in Ziska Riemann's highly acclaimed teenage comedy "Get Lucky - Sex verändert alles", which was released in autumn 2019.
