Marc Pierschel, born in 1978, studied social sciences in Münster until 2004. While still studying, he founded the collective "Roots of Compassion", whose aim is to give people an understanding of animal rights and liberation and of a vegan lifestyle. He published two books on veganism ("Vegan lecker lecker!", "Vegan! – Vegane Lebensweise für alle", 2013). In 2009, he made his directorial debut with the documentary "EDGE – Perspectives on drug free culture". His second documentary feature "Live And Let Live" (2013) about different people turning to veganism was shown at several film festivals, among others in Milan and Augsburg. For "184" (2016), he accompanied activists on a two-week campaign against commercial whaling in Iceland. In summer 2017, Pierschel's fourth documentary feature "The End of Meat - Eine Welt ohne Fleisch" ("The End of Meat"), in which he explores how a world without meat consumption could become a reality, premiered at the Fünf Seen Filmfestival near Munich. The film had its theatrical release in September 2017.
