El Viaje
The documentary accompanies Rodrigo González, member of the famous German band "Die Ärzte", to Chile where he is searching for inspirations of his own music. In 1974, when he was six years old, the Chilean-born Gonzáles and his family had to flee the country from Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship. He grew up in Hamburg listening to the protest music of "Nueva Cancion Chilena" as a child. As an adolescent, he took to the streets to stand up for his native country before starting a career in music himself as a young adult. In the film, director Nahuel Lopez joins Gonzales on a journey back to Chile – a journey back in time, all the way to his childhood and, above all, back to his musical roots. He meets protagonists and musical descendants of "Nueva Cancion Chilena" and his plan is to record a collaborative album in Chile.
