Werner Schmidt is an average single guy residing in rural Swabia: In his mid-.forties, he has a job at a hardware store and an uneventful private life. Yet there is his peculiar hobby: At night, he likes to blow up cars in the neighborhood, thus compensating for the lack of a wife. Things even get worse when his mother passes away. Then one of his explosive charges accidently hurts a young woman named Sibylle, and Werner takes her into his home. Surprisingly, she has no intent of leaving again. Now Werner has a woman he wasn't looking for and a whole lot of other problems to boot: As it turns out, Sibylle is on the run from some real estate crooks, while Werner's secret pyromania is about to be exposed by the new neighborhood watch his friend Uwe has put together. Suddenly, Werner's life isn't boring anymore…
