Born in 1978 in Lüneburg. She studied political science and art history, with a concentration in visual media. In 2013 she completed studies in documentary film and television journalism, with a concentration in cinematography, at the University of Television and Film in Munich. Christiane Schmidt has worked as cinematographer on a number of films. "Pădurea e ca muntele, vezi?" is her graduation film.
