Biography

André Krummel, born in 1989 in Sangerhausen, Germany, gained practical film experience since 2009, for example at Rosa von Praunheim Filmproduktion, where he worked as an editor on the documentary "Wie ich lernte, die Zahlen zu lieben" ("How I Learned to Love the Numbers", 2014).

During his studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Krummel served as director, writer, cinematographer and editor on the medium-length documentary "Nach der Zukunft" ("After the Future", 2017) about gay, HIV/AIDS and bareback activist Ortwin Passon. The film received an Honorable Mention in the German Competition of the DOK Leipzig Festival. In Pablo Ben Yakov's (director, screenwriter, editor) award-winning but controversial documentary "Lord of the Toys" about YouTuber Max "Adlersson" Herzberg, Krummel served as cinematographer, co-writer and co-editor.

In a more recent collaboration, this time as director as well, Krummel and Ben Yakov made the documentary "Goldhammer" (2022), about Marcel Goldammer, a retired gay sex worker and colorful character who wants to make a career as a populist politician. It premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in January 2023 and was released the following May.
