Susanne Heinz was born in 1976. She was trained as a sound engineer at the SAE Institute in Cologne, and from 1998 until 2007, she worked as a sound supervisor, assistant DoP and production assistant on several documentary films. At the same time, she studied communication, politics and German literature at Cologne University. Since 2008, she has been working as a producer for Beetz Filmproduktion, Cologne. In 2010/2011, she completed a course on "International Producing" at the Cologne Film School. Teaming up with her sister Katrin Heinz, she co-directed the documentary "Art's Home is my Kassel" (2013), which was released in summer 2014.
