Tobias Lindner was born in Berlin in 1983. From 2004 until 2011, he studied cinematography at the Beuth Hochschule für Technik in Berlin. During that time he made several trips to South Africa, where he worked on documentary film and photo projects. Following his graduation, he also shot his first feature-length documentary in South Africa: "Orania" (2012) observes life in a private settlement in the desert, where only Boers are allowed.
