The director has been collaborating with Julia Lemke since they studied together at the DFFB. Their graduation documentary film, "Win by Fall", about female wrestlers in East Germany, screened at festivals including Hof, Amsterdam and Austin and won several awards. The duo then made "Glitter & Dust", a documentary about four US cowgirls, which premiered at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival and went on to screen at festivals around the world. "Zirkuskind" is the first documentary to be made as part of the “der besondere Kinderfilm” (“Outstanding Films for Children”) funding scheme.
