Biography

Tommy Gulliksen was born in Norway in 1980. He studied journalism at Oslo University College and worked for the TV documentary programme Dokument 2 from 2003 to 2010; he also worked for the production company Dokumentaravdelingen. He is best known for his award-winning documentary trilogy on the devastating terrorist attack on the Norwegian island of Utøya on 22 July 2011. Gulliksen's other works also include the documentary series "Da vi styrte landet" (NO 2017), in which he portrayed six Norwegian prime ministers.

Together with other filmmakers, he founded the production company Norsk Fjernsyn AS in Oslo in 2013. With the company, he co-produced the award-winning documentary "Liberation Day" (2016, directed by Ugis Olte), about a concert of the Slovenian band Laibach in North Korea on the 70th anniversary of the "liberation" of the country. Gulliksen's first own cinema documentary "War of Art" (DE/NO 2019) is thematically linked to "Liberation Day": in the film he accompanies the Norwegian artist Morten Traavik, who works with the North Korean regime.

In addition to his work as a producer and director, Tommy Gulliksen has been a lecturer in journalism at Oslo University College since 2003.
