Biography

Simone Jung was born in Karlsruhe on April 26 1967. She studied German literature, philosophy and psychology in Frankfurt, and already during that gathered experiences by working for publishing houses and TV broadcasters. After her graduation, she trained as a TV journalist and started freelancing as director and author. Over the years, she completed numerous TV documentaries; in 2003, "Der Mann in den Bäumen", a feature about a tree doctor in Frankfurt, won the Deutsche Kamerapreis.

Other works focused on singles in the city ("Allein in der City – Singles und die Einsamkeit", 2005), senior citizens suffering from dementia in an elderly home ("Butterbrötchen um halb fünf", 2005) and cancer-stricken children ("Datz kennt keine Angst", 2006).

In 2008, Simone Jung made her cinema debut with "Königin im Ring", a documentary about female pro-boxing star Regina Halmich. The film was awarded the Hessische Filmpreis and released in the early summer of 2010.
