Rhim Ibrir, born November 29, 1981 in Bensekrane, Algeria, has been living in Chatellerault, France since 2008. In 2014, she met filmmaker Philip Scheffner by chance and appeared as a protagonist in his award-winning documentary "Havarie" (2016). She subsequently developed the screenplay for "Europe" with Merle Kroeger and Philip Scheffner based on her own story. In the feature film, Ibrir plays a fictionalized role of herself. Filming took place in late summer 2019, with the world premiere at the Berlinale 2022.
