Biography

Kim Strobl, born 1982 in Innsbruck, Austria, began studying English, American and Film Studies in Innsbruck in 2001. In 2002 she transferred to the University of Westminster in England, where she studied Film & Television Production until 2005. From 2006 to 2011 she worked for the London production company "Passion Pictures", among other things as assistant producer and assistant director. At the same time she completed a postgraduate course at the Central Film School London (2009/2010) with a diploma in "Advanced Directing". Her graduation film "Loose Ends" received the Best Director Award at the Central Film School and went on to win further awards at various other festivals. In the following years Strobl realised several short films. The 24-minute "Dancing in Circles" (AT/GB 2014), a multilevel relationship study, was awarded prizes at the WorldFest Houston and the North Carolina Film Festival in the USA and at the Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival in India.   

In 2016, Strobl began developing the script for her first feature-length film, "Madison", about the 12-year-old daughter of a successful professional racing cyclist who discovers her passion for mountain biking and rebels against her father's plans for her future. At the same time Strobl worked for the Austrian production company Hafzoo, the British media group Twofour Group and the British production company CPL. In May 2019 she started shooting "Madison".
