James McTeigue worked as an assistant director in Australia up to the mid-1990s. He then moved to the USA where he continued to work in this capacity for directors such as George Lucas, Alex Proyas and, in particular, the brothers Andy and Larry Wachowski, on their "Matrix" trilogy. "V for Vendetta" marks his debut as a director in his own right.
