For many years now, Ia Shugliashvili has been a company player at the renowned Mardjanishvili Theater in Tiflis. In 2010, she made her Georgian TV debut in a series, but afterwards focused on her stage career again. She eventually was discovered as a screen actor when she answered the casting call for "Meine glückliche Familie" ("My Happy Family", 2017), and promptly got the lead role. Ia Shugliashvili is also a talented singer, and the song her character performs in "Eine glückliche Familie" was actually composed by Shugliashvili's late mother, who was a popular Georgian musician. For her performance in the film, Shugliashvili won the award for Best Female Actor at the Transilvania International Film Festival. She next starred in the Georgian feature film "Sleeping Lessons" (2017).
