Biography

Gordon Volk first worked as a camera assistant for the production company Altona Film & TV in 2000, before completing an apprenticeship as a media designer for image and sound with a focus on camera at the regional broadcaster NDR (2000-2003). He then worked as a freelance cameraman for various production companies, mainly in the fields of television, documentary, music video and industrial/commercial film. In 2008, together with Malte Nieschalk, he founded the production company Rakete Bildproduktion in Hamburg. In this context, he continued to work as a cameraman, among others for TV formats of Arte ("Tracks") and ZDF (e.g. "Hallo Deutschland", "Heute Journal", "Drehscheibe Deutschland") and in 2022 acted as producer and cameraman on the 60-minute cinema documentary "Aus dem Rahmen fallen" about the eating disorder binge eating. In 2020 Volk participated in a 9-day masterclass for film dramaturgy at the Drehbuchwerkstatt Berlin.

Together with Thorsten Ernst, Malte Nieschalk and Tobias Lickes, Gordon Volk realized the feature documentary "All Inclusive" (2022), for which he and Nieschalk also acted as cinematographers. In it, the filmmakers accompany four young athletes from Germany, Finland, Mongolia and Kenya with intellectual or multiple disabilities who are training to participate in the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin in 2023.
