Biography

Cino Djavid was born in Hamburg in 1984, the son of Persian immigrants who came to Germany shortly before the political upheaval caused by the Ayatollah regime in Iran. Djavid's interest in acting was sparked during his high school years in 2004, when he attended Michael Thalheimer's production of "Liliom" at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.

After graduating from high school, Djavid trained at Hamburg's Schauspielstudio Frese from 2006 to 2009. His first engagement was from 2010 to 2013 at the Landesbühne Wilhelmshaven, where he appeared on stage as Orest in "Iphigenia in Tauris", Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet" and Moritz Stiefel in "Spring Awakening", among others. In 2012, he was awarded the Proskenion Foundation's national award for young talent in the performing arts category.

In 2013, Cino Djavid joined the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken, where he played the title role in "Don Karlos," Lucky in "Waiting for Godot," and Cassio in "Othello," among others. In the 2017/18 season he joined the ensemble of the Staatstheater Braunschweig, where he played Nick in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and the title role in "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui" . His portrayal of Malvolio in "As You Like It" earned him an honorable mention in the Best Acting category in the 2018 critics' poll of the trade magazine Die Deutsche Bühne.

Cino Djavid made his screen debut in 2018 with a supporting role as a German-Turkish national soccer player in an episode of the thriller series "Dogs of Berlin." He went on to star in several short films and was part of the short-lived crime series "Kolleginnen" (2022) as a forensic pathologist on the investigation team. In 2023, Djavid appeared in two films: as the new, older friend of the young protagonist in the coming-out story "Drifter" and as the popular new roommate in the tragicomedy "Franky Five Star". In theater, Cino Djavid joined the Staatstheater Hannover for the 2023/24 season.
