Film synopsis: It takes one and a half days, to construct a VW Golf 2 model. Hartmut Bitomsky follows a car's way on the fully-automatic assembly lines in Wolfsburg and uses archival footage to reflect upon the history of the Volkswagen company.

"Der VW-Komplex" was digitized by Stiftung Deutschen Kinemathek as part of the film heritage funding program "Förderprogramm Filmerbe" (FFE) in 2019.

filmportal.de, the central internet platform for German cinema and a department of DFF - Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, documents the progress and results of "Förderprogramm Filmerbe", which is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, the German federal states and the German Federal Film Board. The first five minutes of feature-length films digitized with funding from the FFE are presented on filmportal.de to document the successful completion of the respective project.
