Summary
The documentary portrays women living in the autonomous region of Rojava in northern and eastern Syria, where they strive for self-determined lives despite an unstable environment. It centers on six protagonists: a former fighter now living in the women’s village of Jinwar, where she takes on technical responsibilities; a craftswoman with her own studio; a single mother working in a women’s cooperative; a teacher and radio producer; a Taekwondo trainer; and a deaf silk embroiderer who runs an online business. With calm, observational imagery, the film offers insight into their daily lives, their work, and their efforts to help build a peaceful, grassroots democratic society and a self-determined future in a region marked by crisis.
