Summary
Stalin's Cola
"Stalin's Cola" tells the story of a mysterious soda developed by legendary Georgian juicemaker Mitrofan Lagidze on the order of Stalin in the early 1950‘s. In the so-called lemonade war Lagidze was supposed to create a soft drink better than Coca-Cola. With a typical Georgian sense of humor this film sets out on a quest for the formula of the Soviet super-soda.
The audience is taken onto a journey into Soviet history and the world of flavors of the USSR, which for many are connected with childhood memories. A hidden nostalgia, Vladimir Putin’s propaganda also counts on to win the hearts of older generations in former Soviet republics for his idea of re-establishing the Russian Empire.
An unbelievable story about “the Sweetest Secret of the Soviet Union”, that raises the question, how the world would taste like today, if the most popular soft drink would not have come from Georgia USA, but Georgia, USSR.
