Summary
This abstract film—called a "film experiment" by Franz Schömbs—aims to unite space and time. To achieve this, Schömbs stretched colorful cardboard strips painted with various shapes onto a machine he built himself, the Integrator. A rotating mechanism brought the strips into different configurations, which were interwoven in the film recording through multiple exposures. The geometric shapes, whose colors range from cool to warm tones, fade or stand out, continuously creating new motifs.
