Summary
Margot and Barbara, lifelong friends, artists, and the director’s mother and mother-in-law, reunite in a stone farmhouse in the German countryside for their annual retreat. Nearing 90, they sculpt large stones and reflect on creativity, aging, and womanhood. Margot, originally from England, lives in San Francisco with her husband of over 60 years. In her studio and at the burial plot she and Peter have chosen, she contemplates love, solitude, and her lifelong struggle to stay true to painting. In Hamburg, Barbara recalls rebuilding her life after divorce, finding part-time work to keep painting daily. Now nearing 80, she reflects on her evolving relationship with her second husband and her desire to create until her last breath. In the farmhouse, the women shape stone and memory, sharing stories, art, and a fierce commitment to living fully - still creating, still becoming.
