Summary
At the age of 28, Leyla, a young woman raised in Germany, becomes mayor of the Kurdish town of Cizre, which is located in boarder region of Turkey, Syria and Iraq. When she was five, her father, a PKK activist, was killed in combat, and her family fled to Bremen. Now, Leyla wants to rebuild the war-torn town. The public likes her, but the peace turns out to be very fragile. As the general elections in Turkey near, the situation worsens radically – and Leyla is haunted by memories of the past.
