Blick in den Abgrund

Österreich Deutschland 2011-2013 Dokumentarfilm

Summary

Their work begins after the blood has been wiped up: profilers, forensic psychologists and psychiatrists deal professionally with murder, rape and manslaughter. They reconstruct the order of events and motives, establish personality profiles, and put together the pieces of bloody puzzles. We only know them from thrillers, as television experts, or when they publish books about their "clients": but how does one gain insight into the everyday thoughts of people who are confronted with a loss of faith in humanity? How does a profiler come to rest? How does a forensic psychiatrist lead a family life? The film shows the profilers close up, professionally and in private. Candidly and personally, they tell us about their work, their discoveries: a view into a very different abyss, fascinating and disturbing.
