Summary
Documentary that explores the question why people use their spare time to visit the sites of Nazi concentrations camps. Filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa travels to a former camp, which now is a place of remembrance and hosts a museum. Day after day, countless tourists visit the site, and Loznitsa tries to learn why they would rather walk among former barracks and gas chambers then to go sightseeing at a place not burdened with such a terrible history. Loznitsa completely eschews the use of interviews, instead he remains a silent observer who eavesdrops on conversations and records the individual reactions and behaviors of the visitors.
