Summary
The documentary film traces legends and myths in the Alpine region and the belief in an otherworldly reality associated with them. In many places still alive today, there is - according to old locals - a lot of truth in them. In the Bavarian, Allgäu and Berchtesgaden Alps, local connoisseurs, historians and Alpine shamans provide insight into mythical places of power and into phenomena that can still be observed in these places today. They share centuries-old folk knowledge on which, not least, large parts of the regional identity are based. The film connects this world of myths and legends with today's world, based on the assumption that our everyday life, dominated by materialism, creates a longing for the spiritual.
