Brigitta
A wide-open country, a foreign world: the Hungarian Puszta. One easily loses one′s way here - and, for this very reason, one also has the best chance of finding oneself as well. Like the young painter who roams through the forests on the way to the Uvar estate and his master Major Murai. He attempts to capture his daily experiences and observations in small
sketches - landscape, grass and wind, the quietly friendly natives. A
mysterious woman rider on a white horse shows him the way to Uvar.
Later on, the painter will learn who this was, he will hear the story
from the past on the steppes: of an ugly little girl, Brigitta, whom
the Major had married and who had left him when he had an affair with
another woman because her unprepossessing nature had made her demand a
complete love. Will they ever come back together again - the Major,
Brigitta and her son - and what part can the painter play in all of
this?
