Biography

Valesca Peters was born in Hannover in 1982. From 2003 to 2006 she trained as a film and video editor at Cine Plus. She gained practical experience as an assistant editor for Andreas Kleinert's "Freischwimmer" ("Head Under Water", 2007) and the "Tatort" episode "Dornröschens Rache" (2007). From 2008 to 2013 she studied editing at the Film University Babelsberg in Potsdam. During her studies she was responsible for the editing of several student short films. Her feature-length diploma film "Die Verführungskünstler" ("The Seduction Artists", Director: Johanna Bentz) was awarded Best Documentary in 2013 at the Filmschau Baden-Württemberg. After her studies Peters worked as an editor mainly for television, e.g. for the documentary series "Mein himmlisches Hotel" (2014 & 2016) and for TV shows such as "The Voice of Germany" (2015-2018), "The Voice Kids" (2017) and "Bachelor in Paradise" (2018).

In 2016, Valesca Peters began working on her first documentary film: In "Helmut Berger, meine Mutter und ich" she describes how her mother takes on the addicted, confused actor Helmut Berger, in order to "get him back on his feet" - with success. The film premiered in January 2019 at the Festival Max Ophüls Preis and was shown in German cinemas the following March.
