Biography

Tini Tüllmann was born in Munich in 1977. In 1997, she attended the Athanor Akademie für Darstellende Kunst in Burghausen for one year, followed by a three-month stint at the London Film School. She subsequently enrolled at the Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne to study directing. She contributed the segment "Taxi" (starring Katharina Schüttler) to the student omnibus film "Freitagnacht" (2002), which won an award at the Internationales Festival der Filmhochschulen in Munich.

Following her graduation in 2003, Tini Tüllmann predominately worked as an assistant in the sound department on productions like "Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei" ("The Edukators", 2004), "Keine Lieder über Liebe" ("No Songs of Love", 2005), "Der freie Wille" ("The Free Will", 2006) and "This is Love" (2009). She also was head of the sound department for "Wigald" (2006), "Friendship!" (2010) and "Anhedonia" (2015).

Tini Tüllmann's feature-length debut as director premiered at the 2016 Hof IFF: The psychological drama "Freddy/Eddy", which she also wrote and produced, relates the story of a young man who suddenly is confronted by his violent alter ego. "Freddy/Eddy" won the Heinz-Badewitz-Preis for Best New Director, the awards for Best Production and Best Director at the 2017 achtung berlin Festival and the award for Best Feature Film as well as the Jury Award at the Austin Film Festival. "Freddy/ Eddy" was theatrically released in February 2018.
