Biography

Kathrin Angerer, born 1970 in Oranienburg, made her first stage experience as a lay actor before she started to attend actor’s training. In 1993, she finally landed her first engagement at Berlin’s Volksbühne and is a cast member to date. At Volksbühne, she caused a stir with critics and theatre goers alike in productions of "Die Frau vom Meer" ("The Lady from the Sea", 1993), "Trainspotting" (1997), or "Sweet Bird of Youth" (2003), among others, under director Frank Castorf.

After a leading role in Rolf Peter Kahl’s short film "Ausgespielt" (1995), Kathrin Angerer made her debut on the movie screen in 1996 in a supporting role in the award-winning drama "Engelchen" ("Little Angel"), directed by Helke Misselwitz. Since then, she repeatedly starred in movie and TV productions besides her theatre career and her extensive work as a radio play voice: Angerer, for instance, starred in the ambitious TV production "Klemperer – Ein Leben in Deutschland" (1999), in Christian Petzold’s multiple award-winning TV movie "Toter Mann" ("Something to Remind Me", 2001), in the contemporary Shakespeare adaptation "Hamlet X", in Dominik Graf’s GDR youth drama "Der rote Kakadu" ("The Red Cockatoo", 2006), or in "Umdein Leben" ("LifeTimeShort", 2009), directed by playwright Gesine Danckwart. Furthermore, Angerer played the supporting role of Tamara in seven episodes of the TV crime series "Polizeiruf 110" from 1996 to 2003.
